The media fraternity is mourning the sudden passing of former KTN journalist Nick Mudimba, who collapsed at his home in Syokimau, Machakos County, on Sunday, March 23.

Mudimba’s untimely death has left colleagues, friends, and fans in shock, with many remembering him as a passionate journalist who made a lasting impact in the industry. Reports indicate that he had been experiencing health complications in the days leading up to his death and had been undergoing treatment.

Following the heartbreaking news, fellow journalists and friends took to social media to express their condolences and share fond memories of Mudimba.

Citizen TV news anchor Mashirima Kapombe mourned his passing, writing, “Death, why are you so cruel? Eternal rest grant unto Nick Mudimba, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.”

Her colleague Seth Olale also reflected on their last moments together, recalling, “We were cracking jokes at the AU Media Center in Addis Ababa. You even helped me install the latest Audio Sound Booth Recorder on my laptop. Rest in peace, my brother Nick Mudimba.”

Mudimba’s passing comes just three days after police launched investigations into the sudden death of Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) reporter Fredrick Parsayo.

In a statement on Friday, March 21, KBC announced that Parsayo had passed away at his home in Kinoo, Kikuyu Constituency, under unclear circumstances.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our esteemed colleague, Fredrick Parsayo, who served in the KBC Editorial Department. Fredrick sadly left us on Friday, 21st March 2025, under circumstances that are still being investigated,” the statement read in part.

KBC remembered Parsayo as a valued member of its newsroom whose absence would be deeply felt.

“On behalf of the KBC Board of Directors, Management, and all our staff, we extend our sincerest condolences to Fredrick’s family, friends, and all those impacted by his loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time,” the broadcaster added.

Both losses have sent shockwaves through Kenya’s journalism industry, leaving colleagues and friends grappling with the tragic turn of events.
