FKF emphasized that the probe would be conducted under the federation’s Anti-Match Manipulation Regulations, following FIFA’s guidelines. It also assured that the rights of Matasi and his club would be respected throughout the process.
“As part of the investigation, we urge anyone with credible information to come forward. All reports will be treated with strict confidentiality and can be submitted via [email protected],” FKF added.
Video Footage Raises Concerns
The investigation follows the circulation of a video on Thursday, March 27, showing Matasi in a conversation with unidentified individuals discussing a possible scheme to manipulate a football match.
The footage, recorded inside a vehicle, captures Matasi listening as an unidentified man explains how the alleged fix would be carried out.
“I repeat again before the boss, this is the first deal, I beg you. You know how we have done this, I have never let you down, you have never let me down,” the man is heard saying, while Matasi nods in agreement.
FKF assured that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings, reiterating its commitment to upholding the credibility of football in Kenya.
