Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has directed the Chief Conservator of Forests to interdict all rangers involved in the assault of a man in Lunga Lunga, captured in a viral video.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 20, the CS confirmed that one officer featured in the video had already been interdicted. Duale condemned the actions, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable in society.
“I acknowledge KFS’s swift decision to interdict one of the officers. However, it is clear from the video that more than one ranger was involved,” the statement read in part.
“I therefore direct the Chief Conservator of Forests @CCF_Kenya to immediately interdict the rest of the rangers involved in accordance with established procedures,” Duale added.

The CS explained that the rangers had apprehended the man for engaging in illegal logging within the forest.
“While the government remains resolute in its fight against forest crimes, including illegal logging, such brutal acts that violate human dignity and rights cannot be condoned,” he stated.
The viral video showed the rangers accusing the man of defying government policies on logging despite prior warnings. At one point, the man was ordered to lie down as a ranger stepped on his neck and caned him.
The incident has drawn widespread criticism, with many calling for accountability and justice for the victim.
