Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has expressed gratitude to President William Ruto for entrusting him with the Ministry of Health, following his reassignment in the latest Cabinet changes.

In a statement, Duale thanked the Head of State for his continued confidence in him, acknowledging the opportunity he had to serve in the Ministry of Environment before taking up his new role.

“I am deeply grateful to H.E. President William Ruto for his trust and confidence in appointing me to lead the Ministry of Health. It has been an honour serving at the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry, where we advanced key environmental and climate action policies,” he stated.

The CS emphasized that a nation’s prosperity is directly tied to the well-being of its people, vowing to collaborate with stakeholders to enhance healthcare delivery. He highlighted Universal Health Coverage (UHC) as a key priority, aiming to ensure equitable access to medical services, particularly for vulnerable populations.

“The prosperity of a nation depends on the health of its people. In my new role, I remain committed to working with relevant stakeholders in driving government policies that strengthen healthcare delivery, ensuring accessible and quality services for all Kenyans. A key priority will be advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to guarantee equitable healthcare access, especially for vulnerable populations.

“Health is central to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), and I look forward to fostering interministerial collaboration to enhance service delivery and improve lives across the nation,” Duale said.

This marks the third ministry Duale has headed, having previously served as Cabinet Secretary for Defence and later for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry.

His reassignment was part of changes announced by President Ruto on Wednesday. In the same reshuffle, Deborah Barasa was appointed as the new Environment CS.

Additionally, President Ruto nominated Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, while Hanna Cheptumo was nominated as CS for Gender, Culture, The Arts, and Heritage.

This is the fourth time the president has made adjustments to his Cabinet since assuming office in 2022.
