The suspect was arrested in Eldoret following intelligence leads and is reportedly linked to critical evidence recovered in the case, including a blood-stained panga thought to be the murder weapon.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the suspect is believed to have managed key payment transactions connected to the victim’s stay at a Lavington apartment and driven the victim and prime suspect to the location. According to DCI officials, a vehicle believed to have been used in transporting the suspects has since been recovered and taken for forensic analysis.

“This arrest is a significant step forward in unraveling the truth behind this heinous crime,Our detectives are piecing together all elements of this puzzle to bring closure to the victim’s family.” Said the DCI on X.

Further details revealed by DCI indicate that the prime suspect had checked into the Lavington apartment—operated as an Airbnb by a Kilimani-based businesswoman—where the crime is believed to have occurred. The Airbnb owner summoned for questioning, led detectives to several locations where items from the apartment had been stored after she vacated on November 1, just a day after CCTV captured the prime suspect leaving the premises.

Upon searching the owner’s Kilimani home, detectives discovered a handbag believed to belong to the victim. A more extensive search conducted at the businesswoman’s Gatundu property revealed a blood-stained panga and additional items similar to those found at Lang’ata Cemetery.

Notably, attempts had been made to clean blood traces at both locations, but detectives found enough evidence to link the crime scene to the cemetery discovery. “The perpetrators tried to cover their tracks, but our forensic experts are trained to identify even the smallest trace,” said DCI on X .

In addition, detectives traced the prime suspect’s handling of the victim’s phone, which had been used to contact her family on multiple occasions. Forensic tracking led detectives back to Lang’ata Cemetery, where they uncovered a bag containing a phone and clothes resembling those worn by the victim.

As the investigation progresses, the DCI reiterated its commitment to delivering justice. “We are working tirelessly to ensure a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice. This case will not go unsolved,” the DCI spokesperson stated.
