The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has renewed its appeal to the public for help in apprehending Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in the Kware murders.
Jumaisi escaped police custody on August 20, 2024, and remains at large.
In a statement shared on X on January 2, 2025, the DCI urged anyone with information about Jumaisi’s whereabouts to come forward.
“WANTED SUSPECT: COLLINS JUMAISI KHALUSHA,” the statement read.
“If you have any information regarding his whereabouts, please share it confidentially through the anonymous #FichuaKwaDCI hotline at 0800722203 or contact the police via hotlines 999, 911, and 112,” the DCI added.
The agency emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging citizens to report any leads to the nearest police station or through the provided hotlines.
“Your support could play a significant role in the re-arrest of this suspect. Every piece of information is valuable,” the DCI noted.
The DCI announced that a significant cash reward would be provided for credible information leading to Jumaisi’s arrest, though the exact amount remains undisclosed.
“Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, a serial murder suspect, escaped police custody on August 20, 2024, while awaiting murder charges. He is from Shiru Sub-location, Shaviringa Location, Hamisi Sub-county, Vihiga County. Confidential tips can be shared through the #FichuaKwaDCI hotline or any police station nationwide,” the statement continued.
Jumaisi escaped alongside 12 other suspects from the Gigiri Police Station in Nairobi. Police investigations revealed that the escape was facilitated by insiders, leading to the suspension of eight police officers and the prosecution of five others.

Jumaisi’s arrest in July 2024 followed the discovery of nine mutilated bodies of women in a disused quarry in Kware, Embakasi, Nairobi. Police reported that the victims, aged between 18 and 30, were all killed in a similar manner.
Authorities also revealed that Jumaisi had confessed to the murders of 42 women, including his wife, since 2022. However, his lawyer disputed the confession, claiming it was obtained under duress.
The DCI continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and assist in bringing Jumaisi to justice.
