Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has announced that the National Job Recruitment Program will take place in Nakuru City on Monday.

The exercise will be held at Rift Valley National Polytechnic in Nakuru County, running from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will serve individuals on a first-come, first-served basis.

This follows successful recruitments conducted in Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties.

“We have secured over 1,000 job opportunities for Nakuru residents in countries such as Australia, Qatar, Poland, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Germany, among others,” said Mutua.

Applicants are required to bring their National ID, relevant academic certificates, an updated CV, and a passport (if available). Mutua assured those without passports that they would still be considered and provided assistance to acquire one promptly.

“For some positions, successful candidates could fly out before Christmas and start earning an income immediately,” he added.

The program is part of President William Ruto’s initiative to create local and international job opportunities for Kenyans.

Mutua announced the next recruitment locations as Baringo National Polytechnic on Tuesday and Nyandarua National Polytechnic on Wednesday.

“See you tomorrow in Nakuru! Njoo mapema, mapema ndio best! Kazi ni nyingi na mbele iko sawa,” he encouraged.

The program, which began on November 20, 2024, will cover all 47 counties.

In his initial announcement, Mutua noted that the program followed the successful recruitment for jobs in Qatar. During the first phase, 3,247 Kenyans were selected out of 8,000 available positions, with nearly 1,500 already receiving offer letters and preparing to travel.

“We expect all those recruited to depart within the next few weeks to begin their careers,” Mutua said.

A Qatari company behind the openings is set to return to Kenya to finalize recruitment for the remaining 5,000 positions allocated to the country.

To enhance accessibility, the government is collaborating with stakeholders such as the National Employment Authority (NEA), the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), and licensed recruitment agencies. Recruitment is being conducted at county headquarters and TVET institutions nationwide.
