Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has announced 1,260 job vacancies in Qatar, offering salaries of up to Ksh74,000 per month.
Mutua stated that successful applicants would receive medical cover, transport, and accommodation from the recruiting company. However, he noted that a processing fee equivalent to one month’s basic salary would be required to cover medical examinations and other pre-departure expenses.
“The company is looking to recruit immediately, and we urge all interested and qualified candidates to seize this opportunity,” said Mutua.
He advised applicants to present themselves for interviews on February 19, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Leomar Court, located at the intersection of Chiromo Lane and Westlands Road, as well as Tyme Arcade Building in Ongata Rongai.
Additionally, he instructed those interested to send their CV, passport copy, and certificates as a single PDF document to the provided email address.
The CS emphasized that only individuals with the right attitude and a strong work ethic would be considered for the jobs, stating, “We must ensure that Kenyans heading abroad uphold professionalism to maintain a good reputation and not jeopardize future opportunities for others.”
Among the available positions are skid loader operators, backhoe loader operators, mobile crane operators, roller operators, telehandler operators, excavator (LB) operators, and heavy-duty drivers. Other roles include light-duty drivers, tower crane electricians, hydraulic mechanics, diesel mechanics, lathe machine operators, heavy equipment operators, general repair operators, rigger operators, and generator technicians.
Mutua reassured Kenyans already recruited for jobs in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and other destinations that their travel schedules would proceed as planned based on the needs and urgency of their employing companies.
“An employer cannot be forced to take you in before they are ready simply because you feel you have waited too long. If you are experiencing delays and feel impatient, you may visit your recruiting agency to request a refund, minus medical and processing costs already incurred. This will allow your slot to be given to another deserving Kenyan who is ready to work,” he explained.
He further reiterated the government’s commitment to securing employment opportunities for Kenyans abroad while ensuring that recruitment processes remain transparent and beneficial to both workers and employers.
