A Nairobi court has issued summons requiring Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi to appear and face charges in connection with the alleged fraudulent registration of a land parcel in Kiambu County.
According to the charge sheet, Koimburi is to be charged alongside two co-accused persons: Shelmith Karungri Maina and Gathii Irungu.
The three are accused of conspiring to defraud Julius Gitonga Githinji of land parcel No. RUIRU EAST/JUJA EAST BLOCK 2/36. The land, measuring approximately 1.310 hectares, is estimated to be worth Ksh.10 million.
The prosecution alleges that the offence occurred on or before March 26, 2020, at an undisclosed location within Kenya.
In the second count, Koimburi and Shelmith are accused of obtaining the registration of the land by false pretences, contrary to Section 320 of the Penal Code. The alleged offence is said to have taken place at the Thika District Land Registry in Kiambu County.
The charge sheet further states that the accused persons obtained the land’s registration without legal justification and with intent to defraud.
Additionally, the suspects face another charge of uttering false documents.
