It was music, dance and prayers at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Buruburu as adherents converged to sample Christmas Carols at the church yesterday.

The family gathering saw youth, children and adults come with different classical nativity music to usher in the Novena period in preparation for the reception of the newborn baby.

There is no doubt, the songs were a great reminisce of the birth of Christ some 2000 years ago.

Catholic faithful around the World have been observing Advent, the period of a month of reflection, prayer and fasting to cleanse their spirits and souls in readiness for the Messiah.

And at the Blessed Sacrament church, sounds of “Tis the time to be jolly” rented the calm air as children sang their best vocals in praise of the expected Baby Jesus.

I am very glad to be part of the carols this year. We sing to welcome into our hearts our saviour Jesus Christ

Sylvester, 7 years old.

The youth wearing Santa Claus hats had a beautiful blend of voices as they sang “Mary’s Boy Child”.

But the showstopper was the main choir singing classical pieces that is the tradition old Christmas carols especially in the operatic style.

“We are here to converge as a family and we urge our members and other Christians of goodwill to have a reflection of their lives and promote peace and faith even as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ,” urges Rev. Fr James Mbugua at the Buruburu Parish.
