Affordable Housing to Create Over 250,000 Jobs for Kenyan Youths-President Ruto

Date:

President William Ruto has underscored the massive job opportunities being generated through Kenya’s ambitious affordable housing program, which is transforming lives across the country. During his visit to Kwale County, President Ruto revealed that more than 170,000 affordable housing units are currently under construction nationwide, creating over 250,000 jobs for Kenyan youth.

One of the flagship projects, the Diani Affordable Housing Programme in Ukunda, is set to offer significant employment opportunities for local residents. The 154-unit project will create hundreds of jobs for graduates from the Ukunda Youth Polytechnic, juakali artisans, and construction workers, contributing to skill development and economic empowerment in the region.

“More than 170,000 affordable housing units are under construction across the country, generating over 250,000 jobs for our youth. The Diani Affordable Housing Programme is one of these progressive projects. It will create hundreds of employment opportunities for the Ukunda Youth Polytechnic graduates, juakali artisans and construction workers in the area,” President Ruto said.

In addition to the housing initiative, President Ruto also addressed long-standing land ownership issues by issuing 6,200 title deeds to Kwale County residents. This move demonstrates the government’s commitment to resolving land disputes and promoting secure land ownership in the Coast region.

The affordable housing program is a cornerstone of President Ruto’s development agenda, aimed at providing dignified housing while simultaneously creating jobs and boosting the local economy. As more projects roll out across the country, thousands of young people and skilled artisans are expected to benefit from the increased demand for labor and expertise.

With the construction sector booming and more Kenyans gaining access to affordable homes, the government’s initiative stands as a transformative force for job creation and community development in Kenya.
