The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) has criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration over unfulfilled promises made to Kenyans.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, November 14, the bishops cautioned President William Ruto, stating that Kenyans were beginning to lose faith in his leadership.
The clergy highlighted critical issues affecting the country, including ongoing controversies in the healthcare insurance scheme, the new university funding model, and pervasive corruption.
According to the bishops, many government officials seemed more focused on personal gain rather than serving the interests of Kenyans.
“The culture of lies is swiftly replacing the integrity and respect that Kenyans deserve,” read part of the statement. “It is as though truth only exists when it aligns with government narratives.”
The bishops also urged Kenyans not to endorse or support untruths from political leaders, emphasizing that broken promises, such as delayed payments to service providers, undermine society, with the NHIF cited as a case in point.

They further cautioned the government against new tax proposals recently introduced in Parliament by the Treasury, describing it as an effort to revive the widely opposed Finance Bill 2024 that had led to youth-led protests.
In addition, the bishops called on government institutions to address rising insecurity, including reports of abductions by security agencies. They also urged President Ruto to expedite the formation of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and tackle youth unemployment across the country
