Activist Hanifa Refutes Claims of Joining Kalonzo’s Party

Date:

Political activist Hanifa Adan has refuted claims that she has joined the Kalonzo Musyoka-led Wiper party.

This statement follows social media rumors suggesting her alignment with the opposition party.

Hanifa clarified that these claims are untrue, emphasizing that she has no affiliation with the opposition coalition Azimio or any other political party.

Hanifa explained that her involvement was limited to presenting an award to former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

She mentioned that she was unaware there would be a press conference during the award presentation, but when asked to speak, she took the opportunity to share her message with Kenyans.

“I was invited by the National community-based organization to present the peace ambassador awards to His Excellency and didn’t know it was a press conference. After I spoke, it somehow looked like I was aligned with Azimio or something, so I want to state categorically that I am not affiliated with Azimio or any political party. My message was about peace and justice for everyone, including those who have been mercilessly killed,” Hanifa said.

The rumors of her joining the opposition party began after she appeared at a press event with leaders at the SKM Centre. She further dismissed suggestions that Kalonzo had taken advantage of her presence.

In contrast, activist Kasmuel McOure, who participated in the Gen Z protests, recently went public with his affiliation to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Following a meeting with ODM Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Kasmuel announced on Sunday that the party is aiming to revitalize youth and student leagues nationwide.

Kasmuel praised ODM as the only pro-people party in East and Central Africa and urged young people to join the party in building a fair and democratic Kenya.

“If you’re interested in joining a substantial political movement for a fair, democratic Kenya where everyone can live with dignity, consider ODMparty – the largest pro-people party in East and Central Africa!” Kasmuel stated.

He added that he and others will engage in outreach to encourage both educated and uneducated youth to join ODM, with hopes of shaping a brighter future for Kenya
