Gor Mahia Football Club has announced a sweeping overhaul of its technical department, parting ways with the entire bench—including the coaching staff and team security—effective July 2, 2025.
The bold decision follows a frustrating 2024/25 FKF Premier League campaign in which the 21-time league champions finished the season without a single trophy—a first since 2016.
Gor Mahia’s title hopes were dashed as Kenya Police FC clinched the league, while a painful defeat to Nairobi United compounded an already dismal season.
The club’s loyal supporters, known for their passion and pride, have been vocal in their criticism—particularly directed at interim coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno, who stepped in after Sinisa Mihic’s departure in May.
In a statement signed by Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier, the club cited an extensive internal review that prompted the shake-up, describing it as a strategic step in Gor Mahia’s wider restructuring plan ahead of the 2025/26 season.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to the individuals involved for their commitment, professionalism, and service to the Club during their tenure,” the club stated.
Rachier affirmed that the move is necessary to realign Gor Mahia’s ambitions on and off the pitch.
“As we begin a new chapter, Gor Mahia FC remains committed to building a solid foundation that will support competitive excellence both on and off the pitch,” he said.
The club has yet to announce replacements for the vacated positions, but officials have hinted that a new technical team will be unveiled before pre-season training begins.
