Cristiano Ronaldo has fueled speculation about his future after posting a cryptic message on social media, leading many to believe his time at Saudi club Al-Nassr is coming to an end.
“This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” Ronaldo wrote alongside a photo of himself captaining Al-Nassr — a message that has stirred global conversations about his next move.
The 39-year-old Portuguese star is reportedly considering a departure after two largely underwhelming years in Riyadh. Despite the fanfare surrounding his arrival, Ronaldo only managed to win a single, relatively minor trophy and failed to end Al-Nassr’s six-year title drought.
Al-Nassr also finished third in the just-concluded Saudi Pro League season, behind Al-Hilal and champions Al-Ittihad. The club’s failure to qualify for the upcoming AFC Champions League is believed to be the final straw for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
With eyes still set on representing Portugal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, retirement does not seem imminent for the veteran forward. However, suitable options may be limited.
So far, his boyhood club Sporting Lisbon and Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca have been mentioned as possible destinations. More recently, according to Spanish outlet Marca, an unnamed Brazilian club — set to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup — has reportedly submitted a lucrative offer for the superstar.
Flamengo, Palmeiras, Fluminense, and Botafogo are Brazil’s confirmed participants in the tournament, and speculation is rife that one of them could land Ronaldo’s signature.
Should he consider the Brazilian move, time is of the essence — the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in just 18 days.
Regardless of his final decision, all eyes remain on Cristiano Ronaldo as he charts the next chapter of his legendary career.
