The City Mirror editorial team and its leadership has condemned in the strongest term the unfortunate incident of someone hurling a shoe at the President during his meet-the-people address at Kehancha in Migori County yesterday.
The President is a symbol of national unity and must at all times be treated with respect and honour and any action that demean the stature and seat of the President must be nipped in the bud .
The nation cannot afford such unnecessary distractions when the country leadership is focussed on inclusive development for all.
Importantly, the media must frown upon such and it is shocking to see some national media give mixed signals including apparent celebration of such a heinous act against our statehood.
The media must remember that as a collective, we have an obligation towards nation building and our agenda-setting role must be carried with utmost responsibility for our readership and audiences. We must all call out this action and demand for the speedy investigation, arrest and charges against those responsible
