The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially opened its application portal, allowing thousands of students who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to apply for degree and diploma courses.

In a statement issued on Friday, KUCCPS announced that candidates who attained a mean grade of C+ and above are eligible to apply for placement in various universities across the country.

The placement service also extended opportunities to students interested in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) courses, and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs).

A total of 246,391 students who met the university entry criteria can now submit their applications through the KUCCPS portal before the set deadline of April 21, 2025.

Applicants can select courses from 40 public universities, 29 private universities, and the Open University of Kenya (OUK). The placement process also includes enrollment in TVET institutions, KMTC, and TTCs.

Students have been advised to access the KUCCPS application portal via student.kuccps.net and submit their preferred choices before the deadline. To log in, applicants need to use their KCSE index number, examination year, and a password, which can be either their KCPE index number or birth certificate number.

Earlier, KUCCPS reopened its portal for KMTC applications on February 26, 2025, after the initial window— which ran from January 24 to February 14—closed. The agency explained that the reopening aimed to allow students to apply for 21 KMTC courses that still had available slots for the March 2025 intake.

“Applicants who were not successful in the last application round and those interested in joining KMTC in March 2025 are encouraged to submit their applications,” KUCCPS stated.

Established in 2014, KUCCPS is responsible for overseeing student placements in universities, TVET institutions, national polytechnics, and teacher training colleges. Additionally, the agency provides career guidance programs, manages placement data, and advises the government on higher education matters.

Interested candidates can apply through the KUCCPS website (www.kuccps.net) or the KUCCPS Students App, ensuring they secure placement in their preferred courses and institutions.
