Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Konza Technopolis CEO John Paul Okwiri, marking a significant milestone in fostering digital transformation and innovation within the county. The agreement formalizes the collaboration between Bomet County and Konza Technopolis, strengthening engagement with stakeholders in the digital space.
The partnership aims to enhance e-governance and service delivery through digital platforms, including revenue collection, healthcare, and land management systems. It also focuses on improving digital infrastructure and connectivity across the county to facilitate efficient and seamless public service delivery.
A key highlight of the collaboration is the establishment of the Mulot Jitume ICT Hub Centre of Excellence, which is currently under construction. This initiative seeks to empower youth with digital skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship opportunities. To further this vision, the county has acquired 50 acres of land in Mulot for the development of an ICT software factory, leveraging its existing GIS lab to drive digital advancements.
Governor Barchok emphasized that the county is positioning itself as a digital hub for investment and economic growth. Through this partnership, Bomet and Konza Technopolis will work together to improve county systems, develop the Mulot Software Hub, and provide digital training for youth in alignment with BETA’s digital and creative economy. This will help drive economic recovery and inclusive growth. Additionally, the county will utilize shared services and infrastructure already in place at Konza to enhance efficiency.
The signing ceremony was attended by CECM Finance, ICT, and Economic Planning Hon. Rosa Bett, Chief Officer ICT Stellah Rotich, and Solicitor Geoffrey Kipngetich. Also present were KoDTA Legal Services Manager Lynet Cherono, Chief Manager ICT & Smart City Solutions Lucas Omollo, and Senior IT Enterprise & Customer Experience Officer Richard Musau.
With this partnership, Bomet County takes a bold step towards digital transformation, promising better service delivery, enhanced investment opportunities, and a thriving digital economy for its residents.
