The government, through the Ministry of Public Service, has announced plans to establish Huduma Centres in every sub-county, reinforcing its commitment to the Bottom-Up Transformative Agenda and Kenya Vision 2030.
Speaking at the Machakos Huduma Centre during the launch of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management Services (KISM) in 10 Huduma Centres, Principal Secretary for Public Service Amos Gathecha reaffirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing service delivery across the country.
Currently, Kenya has 58 Huduma Centres, but the government intends to expand this number to 290—one in each constituency. “Under Kenya Vision 2030, we pledged to have a Huduma Centre in every constituency,” Gathecha stated.
The integration of KISM services into Huduma Centres is a strategic move aimed at increasing convenience for supply chain professionals who previously had to travel to Nairobi for KISM-related services. Gathecha encouraged KISM to take full advantage of this partnership and expand its services across all 58 existing Huduma Centres.
“This partnership will eliminate the need for supply chain professionals to travel across the country in search of KISM services,” he added.
Additionally, Gathecha emphasized the role of the Huduma Universal Agent as a key facilitator of this initiative. The Universal Agent, a specially trained Huduma staff member, is designed to offer multiple services on behalf of various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), particularly benefiting individuals who face challenges accessing digital services.
“The Universal Agent is an innovation by Huduma Kenya designed to assist those who face digital challenges in accessing online services,” he explained.
KISM CEO Kenneth Matiba welcomed the initiative, describing it as a milestone in improving service accessibility for members. “We recognize the importance of easy access to services. This launch reflects our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our members,” Matiba stated.
With KISM services now integrated into Huduma Centres, individuals and organizations will be able to access essential services such as membership registration and renewals, certification and licensing services, continuous professional development program details, and general inquiries.
Matiba also assured that KISM would uphold professionalism, integrity, and regulatory compliance in its service delivery.
As the government works towards establishing a Huduma Centre in every constituency, citizens can expect improved accessibility to essential services. This expansion aligns with Kenya Vision 2030’s goal of enhancing public service efficiency and inclusivity, ensuring that government services are within reach of all Kenyans, regardless of their location.
The initiative signals a major leap towards a more accessible, efficient, and citizen-centric public service system in Kenya.
