The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has dismissed a widely circulated job recruitment advert as fake.

The fraudulent advertisement, shared across social media, falsely claims that the company plans to train and employ 10,000 youths under a new program for 2025. It also misleadingly states that both graduates and non-graduates will receive free accommodation and meals.

Kenya Power addressed the matter on its official social media accounts on Friday, March 14, dismissing the claims and labeling the advertisement as fake.

This comes just days after the company issued a public warning against fraudsters circulating fake transformer lease forms.

In an update on Monday, March 10, Kenya Power cautioned customers to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes. The fake document mimicked the company’s official paperwork and falsely presented itself as a lease agreement between Kenya Power and landowners for transformer installation.

Two weeks ago, Kenya Power also flagged another fake advert circulating on social media, which claimed the company was hiring for 241 job vacancies. In a statement dated Monday, March 3, the utility firm warned Kenyans to be cautious, stating that the advert was crafted by fraudsters looking to swindle unsuspecting job seekers.

To avoid falling victim to such scams, Kenya Power advised Kenyans to verify job vacancies only through its official website and social media handles.
