In a significant step toward enhancing healthcare delivery, Bomet County’s Longisa County Referral Hospital has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AGC Tenwek Hospital, a leading faith-based institution celebrated for its specialized care and medical training. This collaboration seeks to strengthen healthcare access, foster staff capacity building, and optimize resources to meet the growing needs of patients in the region.

The agreement establishes a structured framework for engagement between the two institutions. It aims to streamline the referral system, introduce telemedicine services, and coordinate protocols for handling critical cases. This is the second MOU between Bomet County and Tenwek Hospital, following an earlier partnership with Tenwek Nursing College.

One of the major highlights of this partnership is the introduction of telemedicine, enabling specialists from both hospitals to consult and treat patients remotely using Teladoc machines. So far, six Teladoc machines have been distributed across Longisa County Referral Hospital, Ndanai, Kaplong Mission Hospital, and Tenwek Hospital. These machines are equipped with advanced tools, including stethoscopes, ensuring accurate remote diagnostics and care.

Bomet County Governor Hillary Barchok expressed gratitude to AGC Tenwek Hospital’s leadership for their continued collaboration in advancing healthcare services. Special recognition was given to CEO Ben Siele, Dr. Dino, Director of Medical Services, and Dr. Meghan, Program Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology, for their dedication to this initiative. “Delighted to have witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between our Longisa County Referral Hospital and the AGC Tenwek Hospital, a leading faith-based institution renowned for its specialized care and medical training.” Reads part of the governor’s post on Facebook.

Their presence underscored the county’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and fostering strategic partnerships.

With this agreement, Bomet County aims to further improve healthcare service delivery, enhance staff training, and adopt innovative medical technologies to better serve its residents and the broader region.
