The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has scheduled its grassroots elections for April 11 and 12, 2025, across 22 counties.

In a statement on Monday, March 10, UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire confirmed the dates were set following consultations by the party’s National Steering Committee and National Elections Board.

Mbarire noted that the party had already completed elections in five counties and was now moving to the next phase.

The upcoming polls will take place in Bungoma, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale, Lamu, Machakos, Makueni, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Migori, Mombasa, Nyamira, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Tana River, and Turkana counties.

“So far, 113,800 candidates have registered to vie for various positions. Registration remains open until Friday, March 21, 2025, at midnight. Interested members can sign up through our online portal UDA.ke,” the statement read.

Mbarire underscored the importance of grassroots elections in strengthening democracy and ensuring effective representation at the local level.

“These elections are key to ensuring our communities have leaders who truly represent their interests. By empowering grassroots leaders, we build a leadership that is accountable and responsive to the people,” UDA stated.

To enhance transparency, Mbarire revealed that UDA had invested in digital election technology.

“We have procured over 10,000 digital devices to facilitate seamless, free, and fair electronic voting, with results available immediately after polls close,” she said.
