Mother-Daughter duo Caroline and Tinashe Gatimu ready to make their mark in the 2025 Safari Rally

At just 20 years old, Tinashe Gatimu is emerging as one of Kenya’s most promising rally drivers. As the 2025 Safari Rally approaches, she is set to compete in the grueling event alongside her mother, Caroline Gatimu, in the Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) category.

The rally, scheduled from March 20 to 23, will feature over 50 drivers, including top international competitors, testing both technical skill and endurance across some of the toughest terrains.

Tinashe and Caroline are part of the KCB Racing Team, which boasts seasoned Kenyan rally stars such as multiple-time national champion Karan Patel, rising talent Nikhil Sachania, and Evans Kavisi.

Driving a Subaru Impreza GC8, Tinashe will take the wheel while Caroline serves as her navigator, reading pace notes to guide their performance. Competing in the Safari Rally—one of the most demanding motorsport events globally—marks a major milestone in Tinashe’s young career.

“I have an incredible support system helping me navigate the challenges of rallying. My parents have played a key role in my journey, and our sponsors have made it possible to participate in this prestigious event,” she said.

The mother-daughter duo exemplifies the increasing presence of women in motorsport, inspiring future generations of female rally drivers and navigators. Their participation highlights the growing diversity and talent in the sport, proving that endurance and skill know no gender barriers.
