President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to advance proposed reforms outlined in the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) talks.
The agreement comes after the UDA parliamentary group convened at State House, Nairobi, where members approved the framework for collaboration with ODM.
During the meeting, President Ruto hailed the MoU as a step toward fostering national unity and promoting a bipartisan approach to governance.
Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina explained that the agreement seeks to address the political tensions that have gripped the country since June last year, when Gen Z-led protests erupted in opposition to the now-withdrawn Finance Bill 2024.
However, ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna clarified that the agreement does not signal a political coalition between the two parties.
On his part, UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar noted that the MoU provides a structured framework for cooperation between President Ruto and Raila Odinga on key national issues.
