Triple Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon has been nominated for the esteemed 2024 Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award, scheduled to take place on April 21, 2025, in Madrid, Spain.

The Kenyan middle-distance sensation, who holds the world record in the 1,500m, is among six elite athletes vying for the prestigious accolade.

Kipyegon will be competing against Dutch middle- and long-distance runner Sifan Hassan, Spanish footballer Aitana Bonmatí, American artistic gymnast Simone Biles, Belarusian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka, and American hurdler and sprinter Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.

Kipyegon’s remarkable 2024 season saw her cement her dominance in middle-distance running with record-breaking performances and historic victories.

She clinched her third consecutive Olympic gold medal in the 1,500 meters at the Paris 2024 Olympics, setting a new Olympic record of 3:51.29 and becoming the first athlete to achieve three back-to-back Olympic titles in the event.

Kipyegon also shattered the 1,500-meter world record with a blistering time of 3:49.04 in Paris, further solidifying her status as one of the greatest middle-distance runners of all time. She continued her dominance in the Diamond League, delivering stellar performances, including setting a meeting record in Brussels.
