

Doris Lemngole from Kenya, representing the University of Alabama, and Sanu Jallow-Lockhart, representing the University of Arkansas, were crowned the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athletes of the Year in the USA. This prestigious honor, determined by a vote of the league’s coaches, recognizes their exceptional achievements both on the track and in the classroom.
Doris Lemngole, a standout sophomore for the Crimson Tide, has made waves with her record-breaking performances, including holding Alabama program records in the indoor 5,000-meter and a history of dominance in distance events. Alongside her athletic prowess, she maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA in sport management.
Sanu Jallow-Lockhart, a junior at Arkansas, has also shone brightly, setting a program record in the 800-meter with a time of 1:59.77 and representing Gambia at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She balances her athletic career with academic excellence, majoring in Recreation and Sports Management, and is a multi-lingual talent fluent in four languages.


This shared accolade highlights their remarkable contributions to SEC indoor track and field, marking Lemngole as the first Alabama recipient since 2023 and Jallow-Lockhart as the sixth Razorback to earn this distinction, the first since 2021. Their recognition underscores the blend of scholarly dedication and athletic brilliance celebrated within the conference.
