The nation is in mourning following the passing of Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi, who succumbed to illness on Monday, February 17, at Aga Khan Hospital. Leaders from across the political spectrum have paid tribute to the late legislator, honoring his dedication to public service and commitment to his constituents.
President William Ruto expressed his deep sorrow, describing Injendi as a “towering leader” who devoted his life to serving the people of Malava. “He will best be remembered for his passion for education. Our prayers are with the family, friends, and the people of Malava at this painful time. Rest in peace, my friend,” the President stated.
Deputy President Kindiki echoed the sentiments, calling Injendi a “dedicated leader and friend of many.” He extended his sympathies to the MP’s family and constituents, acknowledging the profound loss his passing brings.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua highlighted Injendi’s calm and collected leadership, emphasizing his strong community values and religious faith. “His passing has left a big gap in his family and the people of Malava Constituency,” Gachagua remarked.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula hailed Injendi as a man of integrity and unwavering service, particularly noting his contributions as the Vice Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education & Research. “His wisdom, kindness, and steady leadership will be profoundly missed. We have lost not just a leader, but a remarkable man whose impact will be felt for generations,” Wetangula stated.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa also paid tribute, remembering Injendi as a level-headed and selfless leader who articulated his views with clarity and conviction.
The late MP had served for over a decade in Parliament, championing key issues, particularly in education and the sugar industry. A devout Catholic, Injendi’s faith was central to his leadership and service to the people.
As Kenya mourns the loss of one of its dedicated legislators, the people of Malava and the entire Western Kenya region remember his legacy of service and commitment. Plans for his final send-off are expected to be announced in the coming days.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
