Government Releases Ksh 3.52 Billion for Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Beneficiaries

Date:

The Government of Kenya has disbursed Ksh 3.52 billion to benefit 1,760,074 recipients under the Inua Jamii cash transfer program. The funds cover the January 2025 payment cycle and will be accessible through MPESA agents via the E-Citizen platform.

The Inua Jamii program was launched in 2012 as part of the government’s initiative to provide financial assistance to the most vulnerable citizens. The program targets elderly persons above 70 years, orphans and vulnerable children, and persons with severe disabilities. Over the years, it has expanded to cover more beneficiaries and improve service delivery through digital platforms.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection through the Inua Jamii on Wednesday 12th confirmed the disbursement, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, including the elderly, orphans, and persons with disabilities. The Inua Jamii program, which aims to provide financial assistance to those in need, is a crucial part of Kenya’s social protection strategy.

Beneficiaries can access their payments through MPESA agents across the country, ensuring a seamless and convenient transaction process. The use of the E-Citizen platform is expected to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in fund distribution. The ministry also advised recipients to ensure their MPESA accounts are active and updated to avoid payment delays.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to follow the outlined procedures to withdraw their funds and report any payment issues through the official government communication channels. The government has also set up a dedicated helpline and online support to assist with any challenges encountered during the disbursement process.

This latest disbursement underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to uplift disadvantaged citizens and promote financial inclusion nationwide.
