Police Arrest Notorious Highway Robber Along Isiolo-Garbatula Junction

Date:

Police officers stationed at Archers Police Post have apprehended a notorious highway robber who had been haunting truck drivers at the Isiolo-Garbatula Junction.  Ibrahim Hassan, aged 36, was taken into custody after a high-speed chase that ended in a crash close to the police post.

According to a detailed report published by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Hassan was seen flagging down a white Mitsubishi lorry registration no. KCC 723S while pretending to be a stranded traveler. He also posed as someone wanting to be taken to Archers Town. The lorry driver unsuspectingly played the role of a good Samaritan and offered help.

In an unexpected twist, Hassan pulled out a knife and threatened the driver to not only stay in the car but also took control of the vehicle. The driver, sensing an opening, calmly leaped out of the lorry without suffering from any injuries, immediately informing police officers at Archers post about the incident.

Almost instantly, police tried to pursue him. Meanwhile, Hassan had attempted to run away through an obscure murram road toward Isiolo town, and in the process of trying to avoid capture, he unintentionally bolted directly into Archers Post, where he was being chased by the police. In panic, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree.

When he was arrested at the scene, police found a panga, knife, and a screwdriver, which further proved how dangerous he was. Looking forward, Hassan is in the processing stage of his arraignment. Law enforcement officials have celebrated his capture for what they termed as a significant development in the fight against crime on the Isiolo- Garbatula highway, which has given truck drivers a sense of safety in the region.
