The Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has released a statement to acknowledge a tragic incident which occurred in one of the hospital’s wards on the morning of Friday 7th February where an intruder gained access and murdered an admitted patient
The male patient was found dead in his bed with his throat slit in what appeared to be a deliberate attack. Witnesses in the ward informed police and hospital officials that an unidentified intruder entered the ward and killed the patient early on the morning of Friday, sparking a hot debate on the security state of the government’s facility.
In the statement signed by Dr Sigilai, KNH CEO, said that that the hospital has since launched a private investigation and will further join the police in the ongoing probe of the event.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm an incident involving the tragic death of a patient at Kenyatta National Hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with the patient’s family during this difficult time. The Hospital is working closely with law enforcement authorities and has launched an internal investigation to determine the facts surrounding this incident. Kenyatta National Hospital remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all. The safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and visitors are our utmost priority. We will provide updates as more information becomes available,” reads the statement shared on Friday evening.
