Celebrated Kenyan content creator cum comedian Henry Desagu has finally confirmed that he is going through a rough phase in life and battling depression. Earlier on, reports had emerged that the once king of content was battling alcoholism and substance abuse, but he was so quick to dismiss the claims and told his followers that they had nothing to worry.
Over the weekend, images and videos of the sensational content creator in a bad state went viral with more information indicating that he was being admitted at a rehabilitation center for specialized therapy and medical attention.
This situation sparked sharp reactions and sent a wave of confusion to his followers who were eager to understand what had befallen the self-proclaimed King of Mwihoko.
Taking to his verified social media handles, Desagu whose real name is Ithagu Kibicho on Tuesday admitted the situation and asked his followers and Kenyans to help him fight his troubles.
“Help Support Desagu’s Battle with Depression. Dear friends and family, Today, Desagu is facing one of the toughest challenges of his life: depression. As many of us know, mental health struggles can affect anyone, and Desagu is no exception. He’s currently in the hospital, receiving treatment, including ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy) as advised by his doctor. The road to recovery will take time, and it’s essential that he receives not only medical care but also financial support for his treatment, ongoing care, and a fresh start when he’s back on his feet,” reads Desagu’s post o Facebook.
Desagu hit the jackpot in 2018 when his funny video skits went viral on Social Media amassing millions of views and earning him over half a million subscribers on You Tube. By 2020, Desagu was arguably among the most paid youtubers in Kenya and his current state will be a matter of discussing across the country’s entertainment industry.
