Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi and his Dadaab counterpart Farah Maalim are among 10 leaders currently under investigation by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

NCIC Vice Chair Wambui Nyutu announced on Thursday that the leaders are being investigated for recent remarks made at public events.

Among the 10 leaders, Webuye West MP Daniel Wanyama was also named. Nyutu stated that some investigations have been completed and the findings will be submitted to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for further action.

“We have more than 10 people. We have Dan Wanyama, Farah Maalim, Oscar Sudi, and many other leaders who we are following up with for using language that can cause harm to the country,” Nyutu said.

“Investigations are currently underway and others have been completed. We have submitted them to DCI to make the next step, which is to arrest and charge them.”

The three leaders have been in the public eye for various statements made during public rallies. Sudi, for instance, faced criticism for remarks about the 2027 elections. MP Dan Wanyama was reported to NCIC by his Nyeri Town colleague for remarks considered ethnic incitement.

“I have forwarded the clip to NCIC and I have also asked the committee of Parliament on National Integration and Equal Opportunity to write to you (Wanyama) to appear before that committee. We are going to recommend that you lose your seat,” stated Nyeri Town MP Duncan Mathenge.
