Applications for the prestigious Australia Awards Scholarships for the 2025 academic year are set to open on February 1, 2024, offering fully-funded opportunities for students from 25 eligible African countries to pursue Master’s degrees in Australia.
The scholarships, funded by the Australian Government, aim to empower the next generation of leaders to address critical development challenges in their home countries. Eligible countries include Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and others.
Comprehensive Benefits
Recipients of the scholarships will receive full tuition coverage, return air travel, an establishment allowance, a contribution to living expenses, and overseas student health insurance. Additional benefits include supplementary academic support, fieldwork allowances for research, and access to preparatory training programs.
Priority Areas of Study
The 2025 scholarships focus on fields critical to Africa’s development, including climate change, agriculture and food security, mining and energy, foreign policy and international security, and gender, disability, and social inclusion.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet several criteria, including:
- Being at least 25 years old by February 1, 2025.
- Holding a relevant undergraduate degree equivalent to an Australian bachelor’s degree.
- Having a minimum of five years’ professional experience in a field related to their intended area of study.
- Achieving the required English language proficiency (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent).
Candidates must apply from their country of citizenship and cannot hold or be undertaking a Master’s degree. Priority will be given to women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted online via the OASIS platform by April 30, 2024. Required documents include proof of citizenship, academic transcripts, professional references, and evidence of English proficiency. Shortlisted candidates will undergo an interview process, with final selections announced in late 2024.
