High Court Judge Chacha Mwita has issued a final directive to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and DCI Director Mohammed Amin to immediately release four men who disappeared in Mlolongo, Machakos County, in December 2024.
This ruling follows the failure of both Kanja and Amin to appear in court to address the abductions. Lawyers representing the missing men, including Polycarp Okello and Nyawa Malidzo, have accused the police chiefs of contempt of court for disregarding previous orders to explain the victims’ whereabouts.
The missing men, identified as Justus Mutumwa, Martin Mwau, Karani Mwema, and Kavingo, were allegedly abducted on December 16 and 17, 2024, and have been unaccounted for since.
Judge Mwita ordered Kanja and Amin to appear in court on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10 a.m. and to produce the men, dead or alive.
Despite complaints lodged with the Mlolongo Police Station and DCI headquarters in Athi River, no progress has been made in locating the individuals. Witnesses reported masked individuals forcibly abducting the men, raising concerns about their safety and police accountability.
