Kenya’s men’s national football team, Harambee Stars, were eliminated from the 2025 Mapinduzi Cup after conceding a stoppage-time goal to lose 1-0 against hosts Zanzibar. The dramatic match unfolded on Friday evening at the Gombani Stadium in Pemba.

Harambee Stars needed just a draw to secure a spot in Sunday’s final against group leaders Burkina Faso. However, the team faltered in the dying moments, with substitute Ali Khatib Inzagi capitalizing on a defensive lapse to head in a Faisal Salum corner in the 93rd minute.

The goal shattered Kenya’s hopes of progressing in the tournament and handed Zanzibar a memorable victory on home soil.
