President William Ruto has commended the remarkable performance in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, attributing the success to the effective policies and initiatives implemented by his administration.

Responding to the results released on Thursday, January 9, the president expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the 962,512 candidates who sat for the examination, an increase of 64,000 from the 899,453 candidates who participated in 2023.

“The KCSE results from last year are out. It is clear from these results that there has been significant improvement in the education sector in Kenya. Notable progress is evident, particularly in STEM subjects that had lagged behind, and we are also seeing an increase in the number of girls sitting the examination,” Ruto said.

Speaking during his tour of the North Rift region, the president noted that his administration had invested significantly in the education sector to enhance its overall quality.

“The education sector as a whole is improving, and this is because of my commitment to hiring more teachers. So far, we have employed 76,000 teachers. Let us be honest: no other government since Kenya’s independence has hired such a number of teachers within two years,” he remarked.

While addressing residents in Elgeyo Marakwet, Ruto highlighted ongoing efforts to develop educational infrastructure in Kerio Valley as part of a master plan to address cattle rustling, enhance security, and promote lasting peace.

“Our aim is to equip our youth with the skills needed to engage in meaningful economic activities and improve their livelihoods,” he stated.

The president also reassured Kenyans that his administration remains committed to fulfilling every promise made during his campaign, emphasizing that he aims to deliver tangible results for all citizens.

“The work you entrusted to me will be done with dedication. Those who wish to compete with me are welcome. We will meet, but everyone will come with their own scorecard,” he declared.

President Ruto further noted that his administration had prioritized economic recovery and that these efforts were already yielding positive outcomes. He stated that with the economy now stabilized, the government could shift focus toward fulfilling more development pledges.

“This year, I will focus heavily on road construction. In the past, the economy was facing challenges, but now we have stabilized it. I am planning the work ahead to move Kenya forward,” he explained.

He also urged citizens to register for the SHA/Taifa Care national health insurance scheme, which aims to improve healthcare access across the country.

“I appeal to citizens to register with SHA/Taifa Care so that as we plan for healthcare services, we can know how many people are in specific areas. This will help us ensure sufficient medicine, equipment, and timely health services for every citizen,” he said.
