The Royal House of the Netherlands has announced that His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima will undertake their first state visit to Kenya.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, January 7, the visit, made at the invitation of President William Ruto, will run from Tuesday, March 18, to Thursday, March 20, 2025.
“This first state visit to Kenya reaffirms the strong relations and robust cooperation between our two countries. The Netherlands aims to establish new partnerships across various sectors and deepen existing ties. Kenya plays an increasingly influential role globally. Furthermore, both countries maintain close economic relations, serving as key hubs and gateways to vast regions,” the Royal House stated.
The visit underscores the collaborative efforts between Kenya and the Netherlands, particularly within the United Nations and other international organizations.
“Together, our nations actively work within the UN and other international organizations towards shared goals, including strengthening democracy, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring judicial independence. We also collaborate on pressing global issues such as peace and security, climate change, and food security,” the statement added.
The visit will also highlight economic missions centered on sustainable agriculture and water management—key areas of mutual importance.
