KICD Releases Approved List of CBC and Grade 9 Textbooks
The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has published an updated list of approved textbooks for CBC classes and Grade 9 learners.
In a notice issued on Friday, January 3, KICD also provided the names of publishers and the recommended retail prices for the books.
Subjects covered in the list for Grade 9 include Agriculture, Integrated Science, Creative Activities, Social Studies, English, Mathematics, and Religious Studies.
Example of Mathematics Textbooks and Prices:
- Mentor Mathematics Learner’s Book – Ksh673
- Choice Mathematics Learner’s Book – Ksh830
- Spotlight Mathematics – Ksh860
- Top Scholar Mathematics – Ksh460
- Access Mathematics – Ksh895
- Active Mathematics – Ksh780
- Master Mathematics – Ksh490
- Longhorn Mathematics – Ksh800
In addition to student textbooks, KICD also listed guidebooks for teachers and tutors.

KICD highlighted that discounted textbook prices are available at the KICD bookshop in Nairobi, located along Desai Road, off Murang’a Road near Ngara.
“Visit the KICD bookshop for discounted prices on Curriculum Designs & Approved Textbooks! Whether you’re a teacher, parent, or learner, we have everything you need to excel in learning,” the statement read.
