Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed allegations linking him to the recent wave of abductions in the country.

Speaking in Embu County on Friday, January 3, Gachagua responded to accusations made by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah, who had claimed that he was behind the abductions.

Gachagua called for truthfulness among leaders and urged the government to facilitate the release of those allegedly detained by security operatives.

“I have heard that MP, who Ruto uses, say that I am behind the abductions. Isn’t that utter stupidity? The people of Kenya are very intelligent, and you leaders are running out of lies. You have lied to the people so much that you have started believing your own lies. Bring that boy home,” Gachagua stated.

The former Deputy President also criticized Embu Governor Cecil Mbarire for remaining silent on the abduction of Billy Mwangi, a resident of the county.

“It is very unfortunate that someone from this county can be abducted, yet the governor says nothing,” Gachagua remarked.

Earlier, Ichung’wah, speaking at the burial of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s mother in Bungoma, alleged that Gachagua was orchestrating the abductions to frame President William Ruto’s administration.

“Gachagua was the mastermind behind these abductions so that he could blame President Ruto,” Ichung’wah claimed.

The back-and-forth accusations between the leaders come amid growing public concern over the rising cases of abductions in the country, with families demanding answers about the whereabouts of their missing loved ones.
