Veteran actor and content creator Abel Mutua has ignited a spirited debate by calling for the construction of a 20,000-seat indoor arena in Kenya, citing recent event-related clashes and the need for better infrastructure.
In a post on his official Instagram account, Mutua declared that the era of malls has peaked and urged stakeholders to shift focus to large indoor arenas. He emphasized their potential in accommodating the growing Orange Economy.
“I said it once and I’ll say it again… Proper indoor arenas will save all of us a lot of headaches. Malls zimetosha guys,” Mutua stated.
Kigali as a Model Example
Mutua highlighted Kigali’s success with indoor arenas, pointing out their advantages in security, weather resistance, and business opportunities. He questioned why Kenya, a regional leader, has yet to invest in such infrastructure.
“Indoor arenas are the next big thing, especially now that the Orange Economy is booming,” he said. “They are easier to secure, they are weatherproof, and they make business sense. (Kigali can attest to this).”
Mutua urged investors and like-minded individuals to collaborate on bringing this vision to life.
“How can the giant of East Africa not have a 20,000-seater indoor arena? Haven’t we joked a big one there? At this rate, I think we should come together as a group of like-minded people and build it. How much is it?”
