Kenya Railways has announced additional trips on the Nairobi-Kisumu route to cater to the festive season. This move follows the resumption of the Kisumu Safari Train. The additional services will run until January 15, 2025.
“We are pleased to announce that, following the resumption of the Kisumu Safari Train, we have added more trips to and from Kisumu, effective until January 15, 2025,” said Kenya Railways in a statement released on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
The statement also included festive season greetings: “Thank you for your continued support and trust in us. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
In related updates, Kenya Railways revealed a schedule change for the Madaraka Express Passenger Service. Starting December 15, 2024, the 10 PM train from Nairobi Terminus to Mombasa will now make a brief three-minute stopover at Voi station. The stop will occur from 2:05 AM to 2:08 AM for the Nairobi to Mombasa train and from 11:45 PM to 11:48 PM for the return trip.
“We look forward to having you on board as we continue to serve you better. Thank you for your ongoing support,” added Kenya Railways.
Additionally, Kenya Railways introduced new fares for passengers on the Nairobi-Kisumu route during the festive period. Economy-class tickets are now priced at Ksh 900, while first-class tickets are available for Ksh 2,400, effective December 6, 2024.
