Chief Justice Martha Koome has announced significant changes within the judiciary, transferring several High Court judges to new stations across the country.
The transfers, communicated through a notice signed by Principal Judge of the High Court, Justice Eric Ogola, on Tuesday, December 17, affect 33 judges who will assume new assignments in various courts.
According to the notice, Justice Alfred Mabeya has been transferred from Nairobi’s Commercial and Tax Division to Kisumu, where he will serve as Principal Judge. Justice Roselyne Aburili, previously based in Kisumu, will now head to the Judicial Review Division in Nairobi as Principal Judge.
Justice Edward Muriithi moves from Meru to Kerugoya, while Justice Cecilia Githua will remain in Murang’a and has been appointed as Principal Judge. Justice Christine Meoli, who previously served in the Civil Division in Nairobi, will take up her new role in Kajiado as Principal Judge.
Justice Roselyne Korir has been transferred from Bomet to Chuka, while Justice Stella Mutuku moves from Kajiado to Nairobi’s Civil Division. Justice Esther Maina, formerly of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division in Nairobi, will now serve as Principal Judge in Machakos. Justice Charles Kariuki has been reassigned from Nyandarua to Narok as Principal Judge.
Justice Lilian Mutende will now serve in Nyahururu, leaving her previous post in Nairobi’s Criminal Division, while Justice Francis Gikonyo has been moved from Narok to Nairobi’s Commercial Division as Principal Judge.

Justice Kiarie W. Kiarie transfers from Homa Bay to Nyandarua, and Justice Jairus Ngaah leaves the Judicial Review Division in Nairobi to take up a new role in Mombasa as Principal Judge.
The notice further states that Justice Robert Limo, formerly of Kitui, will now serve in Kitale. Justice Lucy Njuguna moves from Embu to Nairobi’s Anti-Corruption Division as Principal Judge, and Justice Mugure Thande will remain in Malindi but has now been appointed as Principal Judge.
Justice Lucy Gitari transfers from Chuka to Kitui, while Justice Richard Mwongo moves from Kerugoya to Embu. Justice James Wakiaga will leave Murang’a for Nairobi, where he will serve in the Criminal Division, Makadara. Justice Jesse Nyaga has been reassigned from Marsabit to Garsen.
Justice Stephen Githinji transfers from Malindi to Meru, while Justice Olga Sewe moves from Mombasa to Homa Bay. Justice David Kipyegon Kemei will now serve as Principal Judge in Siaya, leaving his previous posting in Bungoma. Justice Olel Francis Odhiambo has been reassigned from Machakos to Marsabit.
Additionally, Justice Margaret Muigai moves from Machakos to Nairobi’s Criminal Division, where she will oversee Community Service Orders. Justice Antony Mrima has been transferred from Kitale to Nairobi’s Civil Division and will also serve at the Judicial Service Commission.
Justice Francis Andayi will leave Mombasa for Kwale, while Justice Nixon Sifuna, previously in Nairobi’s Commercial Division, has been reassigned to Nairobi’s Civil Division on deployment.

Justice Shariff Mwanaisha transfers from Kisumu to Bungoma, and Justice Tabitha Ouya moves from Nairobi’s Civil Division to Murang’a. Justice Rhoda Rutto leaves the Commercial Division in Nairobi to take up her new role in Machakos, while Justice Joe Omido has been reassigned from Nairobi’s Civil Division to Kisumu.
Finally, Justice Julius Kipkosgei Ng’ang’ar, formerly based in Mombasa, will now serve as Principal Judge in Bomet.
