The Pharmacy and Poisons Board has recalled Sure lubricated condoms spelling doom for sexual partners who depend on the free brand for protection.
This is coming also at the peak of December festive season that has culturally and traditionally recorded above average sexual activity especially among young people.
In a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer Dr F. M. Siyoi the statement has described the Sure lubricated condoms as substandard.
The Pharmacy and Poisons Board would wish to draw the public attention to the recall of the substandard sure dotted Batch No. 2405055 manufactured by Indus Medicare Private Ltd
The product samples did not comply with the specifications for the freedom from holes (conductivity) test performed.
In light of this, the Board has advised all pharmaceuticals outlets, healthcare facilities, healthcare professionals, and members of the public to immediately quarantine the product and further Stop the distribution, sale, issuance or use of the affected product batch and return the product to their nearest healthcare facility or respective suppliers.
What has worried the public is to what extent the substandard batch has already been use and if by bad lack they have failed to effectively protect users.

It is tragic because this brand of the condoms is the one currently distributed by the government for free and found in public utilities as well as lodges.
The ones sold have become too expensive with some going for as much as Sh 500 or more per pair.
Kenya now faces a reproductive health crisis and this may reverse the many gains of several decades of fight against HIV and Aids as well as other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
The Board encourages the public to report any suspected substandard medicine or adverse drug reactions to the nearest health facility or the pharmacy of directly to the Board through the following contacts:
