Cooperative and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya today added another feather to his cap after being conferred a Honorary Doctorate of the Masinde Muliro Univesrity od Science and Technology (MMUST) at a colourful ceremony in Kakamega.
The Doctorate awarded is in Educational Planning.
Reading his citation, the MMUST Vice Chancellor said now Dr, Oparanya did exemplarily well during his two terms as Governor of Kakamega where he not only initiated education programmes for the many residents of the county but also set aside resources to build infrastructure for education in the county.

During his time here, he worked had and innovatively turned Kakamega to a modern society because of the many development programmes he initiated and implemented.
Prof Shibairo narrated how humble Oparanya began his life including missing meals and sleeping on the floor.

On his part, Dr Oparanya thanked the University Council and Senate for the fete saying it is a manifest of the teamwork he had with the people of Kakamega.
He caused excitement after he introduced his wives and many children who were in attendance at the graduation ceremony also graced by the Pricnipal Secretary for University Education Prof Inyangala.
Prof Inyangala noted that the university that received a record 6,000 freshmen in September was a product of sacrifice of the Kakamega Community and that she was proud to be associated with the institution.
Also addressing the graduants was Kakmega Governor H.E Fernadez Baraza.
