Former Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Nzioka Waita, has announced his appointment at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.

In a statement posted on his LinkedIn page on Wednesday, December 11, Waita revealed that he will serve as the Managing Director of Africa Advisory. He outlined that his role will focus on assisting leaders and governments in effectively executing their mandates through data-driven strategies and technological solutions.

“It is my honour today to announce that I have joined the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change as Managing Director – Africa Advisory,” Waita stated.

“I am privileged to work alongside a team of like-minded thinkers, doers, and trusted advisors dedicated to supporting political leaders across diverse geographies to deliver results by leveraging technology and efficient government design,” he added.

The Tony Blair Institute, founded by the former British Prime Minister, collaborates with governments globally to offer advisory services in strategy, policy, and project delivery.

Waita previously served under former President Uhuru Kenyatta as Deputy Chief of Staff between 2016 and 2018 before being promoted to Chief of Staff. He held the position until 2022, when he resigned to vie for the Machakos gubernatorial seat.

Reflecting on his gubernatorial campaign, which he lost to Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Waita described it as a transformative experience.

“It was a life-changing experience. I came close but not close enough to win. It, however, reignited my desire to grow as a leader with a purpose-driven political future,” he noted in his post.

The appointment marks a significant step in Waita’s career, blending his governance experience with an international advisory role.
