Chaos Erupt at Event Attended by Gachagua

Date:

Tensions flared during the burial service of the late Erastus Nduati in Limuru on Thursday, November 28, disrupting an event attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The chaos, which was captured on Gachagua’s livestream, erupted when a section of attendees began heckling former Limuru MP Peter Mwathi as he delivered his speech. The situation escalated as the group moved toward the dais where speakers and dignitaries were standing.

Security officers guarding Gachagua and other leaders, including Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa, were forced to intervene to ensure their safety amid the confrontation.

Several attendees sustained injuries during the incident, and property damage was reported, including broken chairs, destroyed tents, and a damaged vehicle parked at the venue.

The reason behind the unrest remains unclear, but preliminary reports suggest political differences among leaders in attendance may have contributed to the disorder.

Gachagua, who had not yet addressed the mourners at the time of the disruption, had attended the service alongside several political allies. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
