CS Mutua Shares Dates, Venues of Job Recruitment Programme for Kenyans Seeking Jobs Abroad

The government has announced the start of a nationwide recruitment drive for overseas job opportunities, set to begin on Wednesday, November 20. 

Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua revealed that the exercise will kick off at the Machakos Training Institute for the Blind, aiming to connect Kenyans with job opportunities abroad. 

File image of Alfred MutuaAccording to Mutua, the recruitment process will cover all 47 counties, though the first phase will take place in 31 counties. He encouraged individuals with the necessary qualifications to visit recruitment stations in their respective home counties. 

The CS also called on Kenyans to share information about the recruitment exercise to increase participation, as the initiative seeks to address existing job gaps. 

“If you are interested in any of the specified jobs and meet the qualifications, please plan to attend at the designated venue in your home county. Share the information with your family and friends,” Mutua urged. 

Some of the jobs being recruited for include housekeeping, mechanics, electrical engineering, cargo handling, livestock foremanship, and construction work. 

The announcement follows the success of a pilot phase in Nairobi, where 3,247 Kenyans were shortlisted out of 8,000 available positions. Nearly 1,500 have already received offer letters and are completing their travel documentation. 

“During the first phase of the Qatar initiative, 3,247 Kenyans were selected out of the 8,000 available positions. I am pleased to report that nearly 1,500 of them have already received their offer letters and are finalizing their travel documentation,” he stated.

“To ensure this recruitment drive is accessible to all, we are working closely with the National Employment Agency (NEA), the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), and licensed recruitment agencies,” Mutua added.
