Five Kenyan politicians have been featured on Top Charts Africa’s list of the 30 Most Talked-About African Personalities of 2024.
The list, described by the publication as “a definitive ranking of individuals who dominated conversations during the year,” is based on data from The Social Chart, leveraging advanced social media tracking and Google Analytics to analyze trends from January 1 to November 3, 2024.
President William Ruto was the highest-ranking Kenyan, coming in second overall, narrowly beaten by Nigerian music superstar Wizkid, who claimed the top spot.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is vying for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson’s position, was ranked fifth. Meanwhile, impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua secured 12th place on the list.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino rounded off the Kenyan representation, ranking 14th and 27th, respectively.
Other notable personalities on the list included Nigerian singer Davido (3rd), billionaire Aliko Dangote (6th), and Equatorial Guinea’s former high-ranking official Baltasar Engonga, whose viral scandal involving explicit videos led to his dismissal.
The ranking highlights individuals from diverse sectors, showcasing their impact on conversations across Africa in 2024.
Nigerian music superstar Wizkid dominated conversations to become the most talked about African in 2024.
